    Balancing Part-Time Jobs in College

    February 15, 2018

In this week’s installment of Ro&Co, Jessie shares her tips for balancing part-time jobs and a challenging academic curriculum. Since I’ve started college, 15 months ago, I’ve worked 7 different jobs, and averaged 20 hours a week. This doesn’t mean I take easy classes; it doesn’t mean I don’t party or hang out with friends; it doesn’t mean I don’t watch Netflix or do yoga; it just means I use my time efficiently. https://www.instagram.com/p/BQuEl_ylWR_/?taken-by=jessiee3344 Balance I split my weekly activities into 3 different categories: Career, Academic, and Personal—and I make sure to make time for all 3. Here is my calendar: career is in blues, academic in greens, personal in…

Katie and I are so excited to finally release the first episode of our podcast, Get This Girl a Job! We interview recent college graduates to talk about the steps they took to get their first job in different industries. The questions follow the development of their career from their first year of college, to how their field of study changed, to the internships they had over the summer, to how they got hired for their very first job! We take turns conducting interviews, and every third week, we co-host a mini-episode answering questions from the audience. Matchmaking and Blogging in 2018 Just in time for Valentines Day, in the…

What I’ve Been Doing with My Free Time | GTGAJ

    February 5, 2018

Three months ago, I called Katie with a half baked plan to change the way we thought about the job search process, to ask for help from the people with the most immediate knowledge, and to share our findings with you. Today, I am excited to give you exclusive access to the first episode of the podcast! My friend Katie and I are no strangers to crazy ideas, and when I pitched the idea for Get This Girl a Job to her, she was ready to go. We met the summer before our senior year of high school when she lived down the hall in the dorm for the summer…

    4 Things I Wish I Knew Before I Ran a Marathon

    February 1, 2018

This week last year, I registered for my first half marathon and decided that I would keep training to run a marathon! It was a six month journey that changed my life. Here is what I wish I knew before signing up! When I started toying with the idea of running a marathon, I had no idea what that would mean for me. Like most dreams I have, at first it was really nebulous. I figured I was already running a bit, and had tentatively agreed to running a half marathon with Katie, but didn’t take the idea of the marathon seriously. I didn’t do a lot of research, but…

Battle of the Workout Apps: 8Fit vs. Nike Training Club

    January 29, 2018

Meet Samira I’m someone who genuinely loves being active; as such, I love trying out new types of workouts or fitness classes. I am what one could call a serial-boutique-class-attender. And that’s because I hate feeling like I’m doing the same thing over and over. However, sometimes I find it difficult to fit working out into my week, and even more difficult to leave Hyde Park just to try a fun class. I also don’t want to have to plan out a workout if I don’t have to. This is why I’ve decided to try two different workout apps, 8fit and Nike Training Club, to see if they can each…

10 Ways to De-Stress Before Midterms

    January 25, 2018

With midterms around the corner, it can be easy to get overwhelmed by all the work. With that in mind, I asked my friends to share what they do to de-stress during midterm season and beyond. 1. Bubble Baths Since it is absolutely freezing outside, the one step I’ve taken this quarter to de-stress is to take a weekend night to myself where I run a bubble bath, light some candles, and listen to some music. It also forces me to disconnect from my electronics and helps me to go to bed earlier. I don’t sleep a lot during the week so trading a weekend night of going out for…

    Why I Stopped Bullet Journaling

    January 18, 2018

After more than a year of bullet journal obsession, for 2018 I decided it was time to put down my Leuchtturm and stop bullet journalling. Here is why I stopped, and how I’m keeping myself organized instead. Some links in this post are affiliate links, which means that I may receive a small commission if you click or purchase an item. I had a well documented love affair with bullet journaling. I actually first discovered blogging through bullet journaling, and my introduction to bullet journaling was the first post on Xoxo, Rosana more than a year ago! 4 Steps to Actually Making it to the Gym in this Godforesaken Tundra | Ro&Co

    January 15, 2018

In this week’s installment of Ro&Co, my friend Claire, ex-college athlete and pre-med student, shares her tips for keeping to a workout plan in the winter so you can keep to your New Year’s resolutions! Running during the Winter can be a massive hassle, especially in Chicago. It’s really cold outside and it gets dark before 5 pm so if you want to run, you’re going to end up on a treadmill more often than not. Because treadmill running can get pretty redundant, here are a few of my tips for sticking out the winter months without too much misery or too many skipped workouts. 1. Bring Workout Clothes to…

What I Eat in a Week as a Vegan

    January 11, 2018

In an attempt to forever answer the question “Where do you get your protein from?” I recorded every meal I ate in a week. Now about to hit 6 months as a vegan, I’ve finally figured out a way to spend minimally, eat healthy food, and even cook (my how far we’ve come)! Sunday I start the morning off with a cup of green machine or smoothie before heading to my favorite yoga class. I go straight from class to Whole Foods to do all my grocery shopping for the week. https://www.instagram.com/p/BdlXpziFfMA/?taken-by=wholefoods My grocery list for this week: 2 cans of chickpeas Quinoa Spinach Red Onion Bananas Berries Tofu Almond…
